Evan’s birth session at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital at Gauthier campus in Lake Charles, La with Dr. Darbonne
Evan! It was so nice of you to finally join us! Evan’s mom was only a hundred months pregnant. OK, maybe she was just pushing 41 weeks but it seemed like a hundred. Maybe because Evan’s mom told me she was pregnant for him when she was just a few weeks along so it felt like forever before he got here. I photographed Evan’s big sister’s birth three years ago(His little big sister. He has two big sisters and a big brother!) His sister was a lot less stubborn that he was. He had us convinced he was coming quite a few hours before he decided to make his grand entrance. I had my first experience of sleeping on the job while waiting for him(note to self: blanket, earmuffs, and gloves go into my birth photography go bag. That hospital room was beyond freezing). He finally made an appearance but I couldn’t say for sure what time it was. I was half asleep. Some time after breakfast but before lunch. haha. We didn’t actually know for sure that Evan was a boy until he was born but for some reason no one thought it would be a girl. Evan was nameless baby Leleux for first part of his life though until they finally settled on his name. I just refer to him as the toddler baby. He came alert, full of rolls, a head full of hair and weighing in at over 9 pounds! Although the events of his birth are still a little fuzzy from the sleep deprivations( and I was the only one of us that napped that night I think haha) I do remember that he kept making this “stink eye” face that cracked me up and I am so glad that I caught it on camera. You will know which one I am referring to when you see it!
