Birth Photography: The crazy on call life
Birth Photography is what I consider personal work. It does not make sense with my schedule and three crazy kids to take on births but I can’t help it. I genuinely love birth photography. Being on call the last few weeks of a pregnancy, not so much. Livia June must have known my schedule last weekend because she came at the most perfect time. I left my house at 5am and she was born at 6:33. Not much time to spare and she had me stressing when I walked up to the hospital room door and could hear the delivery in full swing ( and by full swing I mean the yelling during the pushing part) I feel you. I feel you. Natural child birth is no joke. She could not have been more beautiful and her mom was a beast. First time mom and she handled that labor like a champ. I was not that composed after three. Dr. Groves and the nurses were amazing as always. It seems like the last few births I’ve done were with Dr. Groves at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital at the Guathier campus. Mom and Dad chose to wait for the birth to find out the gender of the baby. A practice that drives me nuts when my friends go this route because who wants to buy a gender neutral baby shower gift. I love it when my clients do it. Mainly because I’m in the delivery room with them and get to know the secret before everyone else. Livia June was born at 6:33 am, weighing in at seven pounds and five ounces, nineteen and a half inches long, and with a full head of red hair.
